 Simple Eye Makeup for Beginners - Easy Tips for Beautiful Eyes

Eye makeup doesn't have to be complicated. If you are new to eye makeup, a few simple techniques combined with the right tools will allow you to create soft, flattering looks, without the mess and stress.

In this guide you will find easy-to-follow steps and product picks that work especially well for desi features and daily makeup routines.


Why Simple?

Your eyes speak for the mood you are in and convey the most expression out of your face. However, eye makeup can be tricky for a beginner. Steady eyeliner, out-of-the-box blending, and coordinating colors can easily be frustrating. So start with neutral shades, basic brushes, and techniques.


Step-by-Step Eye Makeup Guide (Beginner Version)


  1. Prime the Lids

A smooth base will allow your eyeshadow to last longer and blend more seamlessly.


Tip: I typically use a tad of my concealer or foundation to neutralize my lid. 


Optional: A light dusting of powder on top, if you have very oily lids, prevents creasing/flaking.

  1. Stick to Neutral Tones

When you are ready to start applying eye makeup, you should start with a soft brown/peachy tone in the crease and a light shimmer or matte tone on the lid.

  1. Use One Brush (or Finger).

Round Eyes: Apply a darker shade to the outer corners of your eyes to elongate.
